We make every penny count! One Small Step works diligently to minimize operating costs so more of our resources can provide the clothing that is needed. Still, there are basic operating costs to keeping Clothes Cabin open. In addition to rent, utilities, and insurance, Clothes Cabin needs funds to purchase supplies and clothing in shortage areas such as underwear, children’s athletic shoes, and work boots.

Your donation is eligible for a tax credit and in Arizona, One Small Step is a Qualifying Charitable Organization for purposes of the Arizona tax credit. Even a small contribution will help clothe a family in need. Your support in this area is greatly appreciated by Clothes Cabin’s Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers.

What is the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit?
Arizona allows you to take a dollar-for-dollar credit on your state taxes when you donate up to $400 for single filers, or $800 for married couples filing jointly to a qualified organization. The tax credit was previously known as the Working Poor Tax Credit. If you file federal income tax returns, you are also allowed to deduct all your charitable donations to the One Small Step, Inc.

Which organizations can I give to and get the tax credit?
One Small Step, Inc. is an Arizona State qualified charitable organization. That means all the donations you make to us can be used to receive the tax credit, up to the $400/$800 limit. Our Qualifying Charitable Organization number is 20396.

What if I already take the school tax credits?
This tax credit is allowed in addition to the education credit and the Foster Care Credit, so you don’t have to choose, you can contribute to all three.

How do I get the tax credit when I file my taxes?

When do I need to make my gift to qualify for this year’s taxes?
Credit eligible contributions must be made to a Qualifying Charitable Organization by April 15th to be claimed on the previous years’ tax return.*

Where and when do you take in donations?
All clothing, hygiene and linen donations can be dropped off at 710 N Cooper Rd Gilbert, AZ 85233. Our building is located at the back of the business park. Donations are accepted Monday through Thursday 10AM to 2PM and Thursday evenings 6PM to 8PM.

I’m having a yard sale. Can I bring the leftovers?
Yes!  Please remove the price tags and hangers, and check your items for any flaws (stains, tears, missing buttons, out of season) that would make them unusable.  Please remember to bring in smaller, easy to handle bags vs. large heavy boxes or bags. Please read How to Donate to a Clothing Bank.

Do you pick up donations?
No. At this time we do not have the resources to pick up donations.

Can I get a tax receipt?
Yes. One Small Step is qualified by the IRS as a tax-exempt charitable organization.

Clothes Cabin is operated by One Small Step, a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization and is funded primarily through individual donations. It also receives support from foundation grants, corporate contributions, government grants, and community organizations.

Are you affiliated with a church?
No.  There are many faiths represented in our volunteers and our clients.  We help anyone in need, regardless of religious affiliation or any other factor.

Can I volunteer there?
If you are over 16 years old and can commit to several hours a week, please contact our Operations Manager. There are many different tasks involved in running Clothes Cabin. Most people find their niche in a specific area of service: backroom processing, client service, cleaning, shopping, or Boutique sales. See Volunteer for more information.

Can anyone shop at Friends Resale Boutique?
Yes! Friends Resale Boutique is open to the public. We encourage shoppers of all kinds to come see what unique finds we have in-store. Shopping in the boutique is a fun and great way to support the mission of Clothes Cabin.

What donations will you accept for Friends Resale Boutique?
